Walsall Academy Set to Impress July 2022
The Business School successfully hosted a work experience week for Sixth Form students from Walsall Academy earlier this month. The Director of Careers and Employability Andrew Glover commented:
“At Walsall Academy we work hard to source work experience for students so they can get a feel of being a working professional as well as finding out about career options. The university has provided an excellent opportunity for the students to consult on a number of business issues for a local business, ZF Lemforder. The fantastic insight from the company at the start of the week is duly complimented by the excellent resources offered by the university including the expertise of academic staff. By the end of the week students walk away having had an excellent experience very much in the position to reflect deeply about their skills and qualities, as well be able sell themselves to universities and employers based on the knowledge and capability gained throughout their time on the project.”
The students demonstrated maturity throughout the week as they immersed themselves in university life in structured as well as unstructured sessions. I was fortunate enough to sit with Andrew and representatives from ZF Lemforder at the end of the week as the students made their final presentations. Their hard work paid off and they did themselves and their school proud and were very impressive!
