Message from the Deputy Vice-Chancellor

Across the University of Wolverhampton, we are all hugely concerned about the dreadful conflict in Ukraine. I know that ongoing events will be especially worrying to our Ukrainian and Russian students and staff with families and friends now caught up in the conflict.

If you are directly affected and would like to speak to somebody about any aspect of practical or emotional support, please contact ASK@WLV.

We have already been in contact directly with all Ukrainian and Russian staff and students to offer whatever help and support we can at this very difficult time – and we will continue to do so. We are also mindful of the wider impact on everyone in our university community, such events can affect us all in different ways.

Please remember that we are here to support you at all times. You can find more information about the support available to students later in this update.

Thursday 3 March is University Mental Health Day which aims to bring the University community together to highlight mental health issues and facilitate change. We want to normalise conversations surrounding mental health, letting students know it’s ok to ask for help or share their worries with someone they can trust.

University Mental Health Day is a great opportunity to learn more about the different services that can help you with your mental health and wellbeing, and you can read more about our new student mental health and wellbeing strategy on our website.

Above all, please take care, and If you have any concerns, please speak with your personal tutor or contact ASK@WLV.

Stay safe, be kind.
Professor Julia Clarke
