Employment-based routes in teacher training (EBR)
Employment-based routes in teacher training (EBR) gives trainees the opportunity to work in a school/setting whilst completing their individual teacher training programme. Trainees are paid during their training as unqualified teachers.

Graduate Employment Based Route leading to Early Years Teacher Status | This is a part time course for practitioners who are graduates and work in early years settings. Successful completion leads to recommendation of Early Years Teacher Status (EYTS). |
Salaried School Direct | Trainees are employed as an unqualified teacher in school whilst they train. This route is for career changers only. Successful completion leads to recommendation of Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). |
Assessment Only QTS Programme (Primary/Secondary) | This route is 12 weeks in duration and is for highly experienced but unqualified teachers who have at least 2 years experience of working in an English school. Successful completion leads to recommendation of Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). |
National Award for Special Educational Needs (SEN) Coordination (SENCO) |
This programme is mandatory for newly qualified SENCOs, but is also highly relevant for experienced SENCOs and a valuable option for Continued Professional Development (CPD), resulting in a PGCE and 60 credits towards a Masters degree. |
