Travelling Abroad with your Mobile phone

  • Before travelling, please contact IT Services to ensure that your phone is activated for use abroad. This should be done 48 hours before leaving the UK in order for the necessary changes to come into effect.
  • Check the EE Help page to learn about using your mobile phone abroad and extra costs which may be incurred https://ee.co.uk/help/help-new/roaming-and-international
  • Keep all mobile usage to a minimum, in particular mobile data usage. Data is very expensive outside of the EU and costs £5.50 per MB.
  • You will need to register a voicemail PIN to enable you to collect answer phone messages whilst abroad. This should be done at least 24 hours before leaving the UK.
  • It is advisable to use Wi-Fi where possible, even if you have to purchase Wi-Fi sessions at your hotel.
  • A 30 day data bundle can be added to your phone account for use whilst abroad. Costs depend on the size of the bundle and the country you are visiting.

Please contact IT Service Desk on ext.2000 if you would like further information on the above.
