Format painter

Microsoft Word features a tool called format painter. This tool allows you to copy the formatting (font family, font size, text colour, etc...) from other parts of a document (or an external document) and paste those formatting options into other areas of text within your document. For example, you can create a Word document with formatting designs you often use, then using the format painter, you can take the formatting from that document and add it into your current unformatted document.

Here's how to use it:

  1. Highlight the formatted text you would like to replicate

  2. Press CTRL+SHIFT+C

  3. Find and highlight the unformatted text you would like to format

  4. Press CTRL+SHIFT+V

  5. You will now see that your text has changed to the desired format

Using this process can help speed up your workflow when designing multiple Word documents using many different formatting variations.
