Electronic Management of Assessments

The term Electronic Management of Assessments (EMA) describes the way in which we use technology when it comes to assignments, assessments and examinations at the University. This includes everything from looking at the ways we design assessments, submit work and even the marking and feedback cycle.

The EMA project enhanced the functionality already in place through Canvas, integrating it further with SITS to improve the overall student and staff experience.

Students have a personalised view and standard process for submitting their work. They automatically see any details relating to their personal assessments (resits/extensions) and in all courses where possible, submit work through Canvas.

Where academic staff would have previous created assessments within Canvas, these will automatically be added to modules using the information held in the module guides. Staff simply need to complete their briefs before publishing these to students. Marks are recorded via Canvas and then relayed back to SITS, meaning a single entry point of this information and an overall reduction in time/effort to build and mark assessments.
