Explore MRC

The Management Research Centre (MRC) based within the University of Wolverhampton Business School is focused on research that provides solutions to current managerial issues.

In the 2021 Postgraduate Research Experience Survey (PRES), we finished 4th out of 46 for ‘Supervision’, 2nd out of 41 for ‘Resources’ and 3rd out of 46 for ‘Professional Development’.

We have a vibrant community of business researchers within the MRC structured around our four research clusters:

  • Corporate Governance and Sustainability (CGS) covers cutting edge issues of governance and sustainability practices to address global challenges. The cluster prioritises multi-disciplinary research and international reach.
  • Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management (ESM) - researches on small business, family business, entrepreneurship, marketing for small and families business,  digitalisation and strategy, change management and entrepreneurial learning and education, rural entrepreneurship, and green enterprise.
  • Human Resource Management and Employee Relations (HRER) - pioneers innovative and authentic research in the field of employee relations with interdisciplinary study, to help develop a more empowering future for all members of society through addressing challenges faced by local, national, and international communities.
  • International Business and Economics (IBE) focuses on international business activities, globalisation, Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), emerging economies, internationalisation regarding market, entrepreneurship, labour, social and political change, and international information systems.

The research clusters provide a hub of our specialist knowledge, and research themes which we wish to continue to develop.

The MRC also includes a Pedagogy and Practice Group to support and develop collective teaching and learning practice.

In focusing our research effort we are able to provide a study environment within which there is access to friendly support from peers with the same research interests. We prize our relationship with our PhD students and are always looking at ways of improving their study/research experiences.
