Innovation projects

Are you too busy to spend time to plan new innovations for your business? Are you wondering how to grow your business by moving into new markets but too busy to think about how to do it?

Various innovation projects offered by the University are available to businesses, spanning from initial 2 day projects through to long term growth programmes.

Innovation 1st                                                                                        

Innovation 1st is a part-funded European Regional Development Fund project that offers small businesses up to 12 hours free assistance to explore business opportunities through innovative use of technology.  Companies are able to use the various cutting edge devices, discuss ideas with advisors who have industry knowledge and experience and explore new and innovative product ideas.  Organisations are also able to trial software that might be new to them, in a supportive environment, to identify ways in which their business may benefit from the adoption of enhanced technology. Innovation 1st works with many sectors including: 

  • ICT and Digital Media
  • Environmental/Carbon Management
  • Built Environment (Construction and Offsite Manufacturing)
  • High Value Manufacturing
  • Medical and Health (including Leisure).

 

IPSS

The Innovative Product Support Service (IPSS) project is part funded by the European Regional Development Fund and supports businesses through the early stages of developing a new product or process.  Businesses can receive up to 6 days of fully funded support.

The programme is specifically designed to support businesses developing:

  • Environmental technologies
  • Low carbon engineering and products
  • Digital technologies
  • Transport technologies
  • Electronics
  • Medical technologies

Managed by the University of Wolverhampton, the project offers support and delivery through the West Midlands University Consortium.

NTAILS 

The NTAILS project and demonstration centre is based at the Telford Innovation Campus. The project’s main objective isto facilitate collaboration between the University and West Midlands businesses looking to adopt new technologies such as Automatic Identification and Data Capture Technologies (AIDC),e.g. Radio Frequency Identification (RFID), barcodes, sensors, and location based systems.

Knowledge Exchange and Enterprise Network (KEEN)

KEEN helps West Midlands based SMEs to employ a graduate to work on a bespoke project supported by a University expert. KEEN is part funded by the European Regional Development Fund and lasts between 6 to 12 months.  

Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP)

KTP helps businesses achieve growth through the implementation of a high impact project. The University employs a high calibre graduate to lead the project which can last up to 3 years.
