Who we are
The University of Wolverhampton (‘The University’, ‘we’ or ‘us’) are a ‘Data Controller’, as defined by the Data Protection Act 2018 and are responsible for, and control the processing of your Personal Data. How We Use Your Data
The University of Wolverhampton is committed to improving student outcomes. Your responses to this survey will be kept strictly confidential. The data will only be used for research purposes for the University Access Participation Plan, Teaching Excellence Framework and to make recommendations on how we can improve the student experience and outcomes.
We may also publish findings externally (e.g., journal papers / conferences) and we will ensure that you are not identifiable within these reports. Data from this survey will be matched to your university student records data to understand if students are more likely to drop out of their studies if they have different background characteristics (e.g., ethnicity, where you live and disability) or enrolled onto different types of courses / schools. Data will not be transferred to third parties outside of the university.
All of your personal data is processed in the UK or EEA.
The legal basis we rely on for processing your data in this way is that we will obtain your consent. You have the right to withdraw your consent at any time if you no longer wish to be involved in the study.
Information We Collect
The personal data will be provided by you from your responses to the survey and will contain the following categories of personal data:
- Name
- Email Address
- Contact mobile
- Address
- Religious beliefs
- Ethnicity
- Sexual orientation
- Information about your studies
- Health details
Who We Share Your Personal Data With
The information from the survey will not be shared outside of the internal research in an identifiable way. Any outputs from the survey including reports will be aggregated data and you will not be able to be identified.
Retention
Your data is retained for seven years to allow us to make comparisons to other surveys collected.
Your Rights
As an individual, you have a number of rights available to you. How to Complain
