Who we are

The University of Wolverhampton (‘The University’, ‘we’ or ‘us’) are a ‘Data Controller’, as defined by the Data Protection Act 2018 and are responsible for, and control the processing of your Personal Data. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This notice explains how the University of Wolverhampton collects and processes your Personal Data.

Purpose for Data Collection

The University will contact you and ask you to provide specific information if you have let us know that you suspect you have or have been confirmed as having Covid-19 as a result of a positive test.  This is so that we can identify any individuals with whom you may have had close contact in the 48 hours prior to your symptoms starting or you testing positive.  We will use this information to support the NHS track and trace scheme.  You may also be contacted by the NHS or the local Health Protection Team.  Contacting people who might have been exposed to the virus is an important step in containing any spread.

Name, contact number, postal address, email address, location

 

We will only share your personal data with NHS England if requested, in order to support the containment of the virus

The lawful basis we rely on to process this data is Article 6(1)(c) of the GDPR - Legal obligation. The University has a common law duty of care to protect the welfare and wellbeing of individuals who make use of our facilities.

Retention 

Your data will be retained for 21 days and will not be used for any other purpose other than stated above.

Your Rights

As an individual, you have a number of rights available to you. In this instance, the following rights are available to you:

  • The Right of Subject Access - Individuals have the right to access their personal data
  • The Right to Rectification – this is a right for individuals to have inaccurate personal data rectified, or completed if it is incomplete.
  • The Right to Restrict Processing - Individuals have the right to request the restriction or suppression of their personal data, which means an organisation is permitted to store the personal data, but not use it, however this is limited in this instance.
