University in talks to provide Sri Lankan law course

An agreement has been reached between the University and the British College of Applied Studies (BCAS) to discuss the provision of an overseas Master of Law (LLM) post-graduate course.

The Legal Profession is an emerging and fast developing career field in Sri Lanka, with the University already offering an LLB course – an undergraduate Bachelors of Laws degree with the Sri Lankan-based BCAS.

An agreement has been signed between the two institutions to further strengthen the partnership and look at a proposal to deliver the Masters to students living on the southern Indian island.

The proposal includes University of Wolverhampton staff delivering the course in-country with support by BCAS staff.

Geoff Layer, the University of Wolverhampton’s Vice Chancellor, said the agreement was further proof of the University’s commitment to offering opportunity worldwide.

He said: “We are the University of Opportunity and look to provide this wherever we can. We already have strong links with institutions all over the world and we are recognised internationally for the quality of our courses.

“We will be talking closely with BCAS and exploring the possibilities of delivering the Masters course over the coming months.”
