New function venue to be launched

The University has transformed a disused Students’ Union bar into a contemporary function suite, bar and coffee lounge for private event hire.

The new 250-seat capacity venue attached to the historic Priorslee Hall is the latest addition to the conferencing facilities at the Telford Innovation Campus, which offers enterprise support and services to graduates and small to medium sized businesses.

The Priorslee Lounge and Bar will be officially launched on Tuesday, 19 March 2013 by Vice-Chancellor Professor Geoff Layer.

Local businesses, societies, clubs and other organisations have been invited to attend the event from 12pm.

Suzie Mellors, Conference Events & Planning Co-ordinator, said: “We’re delighted to be adding to our conferencing facilities with this new function suite, bar and coffee lounge. It will be a welcome addition to our already impressive conference rooms, catering facilities and en-suite accommodation at Telford.

“The space can be used for a variety of events, such as birthday, engagement or Christmas parties, staff retirement, wedding anniversaries, funeral buffets, business networking events or room hire for local clubs such as yoga or dance classes. It could also be used as a social area as part of our residential packages for conferences.

“At the launch event there will be an opportunity to be among the first to look around the new bar, lounge and existing conference facilities. Our team will also provide further information about special events in 2013 such as a Music and Laughter Night and Psychic Supper.”

The University is continuing to invest in facilities across its campuses as part of its commitment to improving the student and staff experience and to increase support for innovation and enterprise in the region.
