Students to recognise inspirational lecturers

13/02/2012

Inspirational lecturers will be recognised for their work at a special awards ceremony organised by University of Wolverhampton students.

The Students’ Union Teaching Awards are being held for the first time to thank hard working lecturers and support staff.

Students will nominate the people they think deserve to be recognised in the 11 categories.

The award ceremony will take place at the University on Thursday, 3 May 2012 and nominations are open until Friday, 16 March 2012.

President of the Students’ Union, Ken Harris, said: “The idea of the awards is to recognise and reward teaching excellence. What makes these awards different is that they’re student-led. That means students have chosen the categories and criteria, submit the nominations, will short-list nominations and be on the final judging panel. So we will know that whoever wins the awards has made a real difference to students’ lives.”

The categories include Inspiration Award, Support Staff Award, Friendly Face Award, E-Learning Teaching Award, Dissertation/Project Supervisor Award and Pastoral Award.
