The Open Government Licence (OGL)
The Open Government Licence (OGL) is a simple set of terms and conditions that facilitates the re-use of a wide range of public sector information free of charge.
If you wish to use or re-use any public sector information, please be sure to follow the OGL terms and conditions. Usually, you are just required to acknowledge the source of the information – but, be aware of any relevant exceptions or exemptions.
The UK Government Licensing Framework webpages provide an overview of licensing the use and re-use of public sector information (ie materials produced by central and local government or any other public body).
Further information can be found on the National Archives webpages (in the Information Management section), including information about Crown Copyright.
