The future shape of the region’s health and social care will be debated at a Question Time style event at the University of Wolverhampton.
Students, service users and carers will join a panel of influential speakers with extensive experience from across the NHS, public and voluntary sectors to take part in the conference on Monday, 12 March 2018 from 9.30am-2.30pm.
The event at the Arena Theatre at the Wolverhampton City Campus is aimed at health and social care students, lecturers, service users and their carers and practice partners.
Hosted by the Faculty of Education, Health and Wellbeing’s SUCCESS group, the annual showcase and conference will discuss the challenges facing the NHS and feature questions from the audience. It will also showcase examples of co-production between the SUCCESS group and the Faculty.
Dr Alex Hopkins, Dean of the Faculty of Education Health and Wellbeing, said: “I am delighted that our service user and carer group has pulled together this exciting opportunity for our students to examine the changing healthcare landscape.
“The conference and debate will consider how the NHS and social care will rise to the challenge of bringing together physical and mental health and balance the demands of an aging population with reduced resources and budgets.”
Speakers at the ‘Health and Social Care – the future?’ event include:
Rupy Pandaal, Faculty Service User and Carer Strategy Coordinator, added: “Key contributors from across the sector will give their perspectives on the challenges faced and then take questions from an audience of health and social care students, service user and carers, lecturers and Faculty partners.
“This is the 6th annual conference event that’s been put together for and by our SUCCESS group of service users/carers which will showcase some of the innovative co-production work they support to enhance the teaching and learning of our students.”
