Entrepreneurs invited to pitch ideas

31/10/2017

Budding business gurus are being invited to pitch their enterprise ideas at a University of Wolverhampton event.

Students and graduates will be aiming to convince a panel of judges that they could be the next Richard Branson at the Santander Business Pitch.

Held during Global Entrepreneurship Week (13-17 Nov), students will have five minutes to pitch their business and social enterprise ideas before taking questions from a panel of experts.

The best pitch will win a £200 Amazon voucher, with a £150 voucher for second and £100 voucher for third place.

The Santander Business Pitch will take place on Tuesday, 14 November and Friday, 17 November in The George (room MG008).

The deadline for entries is Monday, 6 November 2017 and people can contact enterprise@wlv.ac.uk to book a timeslot.

Gavin Bhandal, Project Development Officer, said: “In partnership with Santander Universities, we’re delighted to be offering this great opportunity for students and graduates to gain valuable experience of developing business plans and pitching ideas.

“The panel of judges will be looking for what market research entrants have conducted, what the unique selling point is of the product or service and how much it will cost to get the idea off the ground.  We’re also interested in why they want to set up their particular business and what their personal skills, qualities and expectations are with their idea.”

During Global Entrepreneurship Week each November, thousands of events and competitions in 160 countries inspire millions to engage in entrepreneurial activity while connecting them to potential collaborators, mentors and even investors. Powered by the Kauffman Foundation, the initiative is supported by dozens of world leaders and a network of more than 15,000 partner organisations.
