Panto fun for studens

09/01/2008
University of Wolverhampton drama students are taking to the stage to perform the popular pantomime Aladdin.

Third year students from the School of Sport, Performing Arts and Leisure will perform seven shows of the panto at the Arena Theatre between Monday, January 14 and Thursday, January 17.

There are a number of performances for primary schools which have now sold out, but there are still some tickets available for the evening shows on Wednesday 16 and Thursday 17 January. Curtain up is at 7.30pm.

Paul Brownbill, Senior Lecturer in Drama, said: “The Panto is the culmination of a module entitled Popular Performance: Panto. It gives students the opportunity to experience a professional run of this popular theatre form with all the inherent problems of long days, mixed aged audiences, time constraints and so on. It is a lot of hard work for them but does give them a taste of real theatre life.”

Tickets are £7 and £5. For further information contact the Arena Theatre on 01902 321321.
