We know that moving into halls can be emotional, exciting and probably pretty stressful for your folks, so to make things a little easier we have scheduled different moving in dates for different places. Best check your offer letter to find out yours…
Here's some of the key info to have a browse through before you arrive:
The pre-arrival accommodation is available for students that are moving in September and January. When you have accepted your accommodation contract you will be emailed campus life link to complete your e-induction which will take around five minutes of your time.
The e-induction gives you essential information about your move to Wolverhampton University, including health & safety, facilities, support and much more.
The true right of passage! You can sign/collect your keys from 10am on your moving in date, this is when you will find out your room number.
Your moving in date is as follows:
City Campus: Saturday 15th September* 2018 Key collection point will be in the MX building ground floor.
Walsall Campus: Sunday 16th September 2018 Key collection point will be in the WA building refectory
Telford Campus: Sunday 16th September 2018 Key collection point will be in the SA building reception
Car parking is including in your contract but remember to bring your insurance documents so we can sort you out with a permit.
Don’t panic if you can’t find a permanent space on arrivals day it’s a lot busier than usual, but parents obviously won’t be staying all year – you hope!
Please let CityAccommodationHub@wlv.ac.uk know if you need to move into uni halls before your contract start date.
Just note that you will be charged for the extra nights, and unfortunately it will be unlikely that you would move into your actual allocated room early – so may mean shifting your stuff twice.
When you first get to your flat you will be given an inventory form, this is where you inspect your new place and note down any issues e.g. bad condition, faults.
If you find any repairs or faults within your room you can log them using the the HelpDesk Reporting System. Details of how to do this are also attached to the inventory form.
The room inventory form needs to be completed and returned to your local Facilities Information Hub at Wolverhampton, Walsall, or Telford Campus.
Although it may be a drag it will benefit you in the long run, as you may be charged at the end of your contract for any damage/ware and tear you didn’t record on the inventory – you can’t add to it once you’ve handed it in.
This calls for a kitchen meeting! In your first week a residence advisor from your halls will get your flat together so you can record any faults/issue you have noticed in communal areas. These can then be reported on the HelpDesk.
When you move out of your uni halls for over summer there’s a few things you need to remember:
Forgotten something important?
If you left in a hurry or had to check facebook last minute and left your laptop on your bed, all expensive items (TV’s, phones, computer gear) will be kept and a letter will be sent to your last known address for you to come and collect it. Presumably you would notice, in which case contact the accommodation office as soon as you can to let them know when you are collecting your forgotten stuff. A second letter will be sent, and if no contact is made after a period of 10 days any items will be disposed of.
If you don't return your keys or if you leave your room with items left in, you may be charged up until the keys are returned or the room has been emptied.
