This School of Education early reading campaign launched on Friday 29th November and it is to be rolled out in waves by all SOE departments across the remainder of the Autumn term.
This is one of three key campaigns that we will be leading this year to help to address our whole school priorities. The aims of the project are:
- To support early reading as a priority in all phases of ITT and education in our current local context
- Demonstrating a commitment to opportunity – reading is a foundation for learning
- Continued dedication to fostering a lifelong love of reading for our students and staff as individuals and as teachers and educators
On the first of the launch dates (Friday 29th November) SoE PGCE and third year students who were on campus were able to come the WN foyer during their lunch break to take part in:
- Book wrapping and decorating
- Book swapping Collection of the SoE books which have been purchased for certain cohorts (those finishing this year and on full time routes).
These books are: ‘Wonder’ by R.J. Palacio, ‘The Final Year’ by Matt Goodfellow and ‘The Girl Who Climbed Everest’ by Bonita Norris You are also welcome to take part.
If you have any books that you want to include in the book swap, we have trolleys in the office of WN332 so please feel free to drop them off there.
We want as many students to get involved as possible to promote the benefits of reading in both professional and personal life.
