Two members of the TaperedPlus team benefited from the funded places available on the University of Wolverhampton Business School’s Strategic Leadership and Management course and took part in the training programme to enhance their strategic leadership knowledge.
Rob Vass, CTO at TaperedPlus, said about the programme: “It’s great to have courses such as this available in our region to help enhance and cultivate future business leaders and provide the necessary skill sets required to drive businesses like ours forward.”

Strategic leadership programme for West Midlands businesses
The University of Wolverhampton launched its Strategic Leadership and Management training programme in 2024 exclusively for small and medium businesses across the West Midlands. Funded through the West Midlands Combined Authority, the programme emphasises strategic leadership and inclusive growth for small businesses across healthcare, engineering, and manufacturing industries in the region. This fast-paced short course is focused on innovative business models, digital transformation, and crisis management to support small businesses to build sustainable futures.
This short course contributes to the University of Wolverhampton Business School’s mission to educate and develop the responsible business professionals, leaders, and entrepreneurs that we need for a sustainable future.
Professor Subashini Suresh, Professor of Knowledge Management in Built Management in the university’s Faculty of Science and Engineering, said: “This short course is creatively designed around business leaders to support them to build their influence, strategic thinking and local impact. In addition to flexible online learning, we have in-built group leadership coaching with opportunities to discuss and reflect with tutors and peers.”
Participants in the first cohort of the Strategic Leadership and Management training programme are already discovering benefits and utilising what they have learnt to take their companies forward to the next level of success.

The TaperedPlus participants found immediate benefits from taking the course, which included boosts to their motivation, networking capabilities, and their understanding of the subject matter and its practical application.
Hitesh said: “Halfway through the course, I have already developed a deeper understanding of organisational dynamics. This is supporting us to achieve key company goals around driving innovation to improve our customer approach and developing a competitive edge locally.”
He also notes his close links with the region and compliments the efforts of the expert organisers behind the course.
He said: “Being from Wolverhampton, I am committed to the university. This course has given me the motivation I needed to progress to higher levels of leadership. It is developing my strategic mindset and has introduced me to a network of individuals with whom I wouldn’t usually interact with.
“The university colleagues, mentors and lecturers have done a fantastic job of stimulating debate, and I have developed confidence in my approach towards my day-to-day tasks.”
