30 Years On: Malaysian alumnus returns to for first-ever campus visit

University graduate Arthi Arunasalam reunites with the institution that launched his successful legal career, three decades after earning his degree.
Arthi, who studied at Holborn College in London, one of the University’s institutional partners, had never visited Wolverhampton during his studies. Now a respected legal professional in Malaysia, he made a long-awaited journey to the UK this September with his family, including a special visit to the city and campus that laid the foundation for his career.
Reflecting on the emotional return, Arthi shared: “My University of Wolverhampton Law degree created an opening for me to be admitted to the Malaysian Bar, subsequently allowing me to establish my own legal practice. My visit to the campus after three decades since graduation has been a very meaningful insight and reflected the right choice I made in choosing a Wolverhampton LLB degree as a stepping stone to shape my legal career."
"I was very impressed with the Law School facilities, especially the moot court. I also thank the academia for the great job done over these years and the tireless work to progress my alma mater, making me a proud alumnus of this university. Keep the flame burning and progressing to greater heights!”
Now the Managing Partner of Athi Arunasalam & Associates in Malaysia, Arthi specialises in conveyancing, probate and administration, and family law. His career has remained firmly rooted in the subject he studied, a testament to the employability-focused education provided by the University of Wolverhampton and its international partnerships.
His journey is a powerful example of how a Wolverhampton education can open doors across the globe. For Arthi, his degree wasn’t just a qualification, it was a passport to opportunity, growth, and leadership in his field.
Arthi’s return not only rekindled memories but also strengthened his connection to the University, one he hopes will inspire fellow alumni, both in the UK and internationally, to stay connected.
