Entry requirements for students from Ethiopia

International Foundation Year

Students with a minimum score of 50% in the Ethiopian School Leaving Certificate or a minimum of 250 in the Ethiopian Higher Education Entrance Qualification Certificate would be eligible for the International Foundation Year.

IELTS 5.5 with a minimum of 5.5 in all components is also required.

Undergraduate

Holders of a bachelor degree of 3-4 years duration and a minimum GPA of 2/4 or C can be considered for entrance to the second year of a Bachelor programme.

Holders of a bachelor degree of 4-7 years duration and a minimum GPA of 2/4 or C can be considered for entrance to the final year of a bachelor programme.

Bachelor degrees from private universities must be approved by the Higher Education Relevance and Quality Agency (HEQRA).

Postgraduate

Students who have completed a Master’s from a NARIC or government recognised institution can normally be considered for admission onto a Master’s degree.

Master’s degrees from private universities must be approved by the Higher Education Relevance and Quality Agency (HEQRA):

A score of 3.5/4  is considered comparable to a UK 2:1

A score of 2.5/4 is considered comparable to a UK 2:2

A score of less than 2.5/4 is considered comparable to a UK 3 and would require the completion of a pre-master’s course. 

English Language Requirements

English language requirements vary by course and department but the standard University requirement is 6.0 with 5.5 in every component in IELTS or the same scores in the University's own entry test, the Wolverhampton English Proficiency Examination (WEPE).

Some courses may require a higher level of English language proficiency than the University standard requirements. For details of each programme's English language requirement please see the individual course pages.
