ALL STUDENT UPDATE: Access to Buildings: ID Passes

Dear students,
In order to ensure the safety of staff and students and to comply with the new Terrorism (Protection of Premises Bill), Martyn’s Law, the University will be introducing controlled access to buildings across our campuses from Monday 11 November 2024.
Main entrances, particularly across City Campus, can only be accessed from that date with your University ID Pass and it will be mandatory to display your ID Pass while you are on University premises, whether that be working or studying.
Christopher Robinson, Head of Security at the University, said: “Following the tragedy of the Manchester bombings at the Arena Theatre, a new law is about to come into effect which requires businesses with over 800 visitors to have security measures in place to control access.
"As you are aware, University ID Passes are your responsibility, and these should not be shared with or given to anyone else for any reason. Your ID Pass will give you access through doors and barriers from the 11 November.
“Everyone is encouraged to have their ID Pass on display while you are on University premises so that you can be identified as studying or working here.”
Please note that access restrictions will be lifted during key University events such as graduation, Open Days and for enrolment.
If you have any questions please contact the ASK@WLV team on campus, by phone on 01902 518518 or e:Vision.
