This series draws on the knowledge and experience of the University's staff, students and alums to highlight how the University works hard to make a difference in the local community, across the country and worldwide.

Introduction

The Origins of Christmas Festivities

In this lecture, Dr Stephen Gregg tells us about the origins of Christmas-time traditions. Dr Stephen E. Gregg is Senior Lecturer in Religious Studies at the University of Wolverhampton, and the Hon. Secretary of the British Association for the Study of Religions.

Christmas in Iceland

In this lecture, Edda Nicholson tells us about her childhood experiences of Christmas in Iceland. Edda is a recent doctoral graduate from the University and is now lecturing at the University of Wolverhampton Business School.

Christmas in the Philippines

In this video, Analisa talks about the Christmas celebrations she enjoyed in the Philippines. Analisa is an alumnus of the University of Wolverhampton and now lives and works in the United Arab Emirates.

Christmas time in Hong Kong

In this lecture, Pui-Sum Lam, known to us as Paul, talks about how eastern and western traditions meet during the winter celebrations in Hong Kong. Paul is an alumnus of the University and is currently a solicitor in Hong Kong.

Italian Christmas traditions

In this lecture, Mattia Parati shares with us his experiences of Italian Christmases. Mattia is a Postgraduate Researcher at the University of Wolverhampton and is completing his PhD in the Faculty of Science and Engineering.

Christmas in Poland

In this lecture, Professor Iza Radecka shares the Christmas traditions of Poland. Professor Radecka researches biopolymers and how these can be used in helping plastics biodegrade.
