SciFest 2019 is coming! Book your tickets now

SciFest 2019 runs across 5 - 6 July 2019, with the University celebrating 50 years of the moon landing, and the Year of the Engineer; the free event is by themed on space and engineering, in an action packed two days for schools and the general public.

Schools and families can book tickets to enter a host of Courtyard activities at City Campus, such as Lego building, retro computer gaming, rocket launching, making space buggies, face painting, drone flying, coding, extracting iron, as well as a host of other activities to engage and entertain from the likes of Enginuity Centre; Ironbridge, Black Country Living Museum, RAF Museum; Cosford, The STEM Workshop and Party Box.

Alongside this, our very own academics will be exploring aspects of medicine and pill making, viewing sun spots on the moon, the chemistry of flashes and bangs, microbes and making pompom neurons....to name but a few!

But that's not all; for those that are quick to book, we have a multitude of fabulous workshops and shows for you to engage with too. These include a hands on animal experience, see the stars in our explorer dome, building stomp rockets, watching our science magician build a giant mousetrap on stage as part of his amazing show, exploring the psychology of space with Jon Wood, engaging with science stories from the multi-award winning Jules Pottle and our headline act for both days is BBC The One Show's very own scientist in residence Marty Jopson who will be exploring microscopic worlds. Booking is essential for these activities.

As part of our social media competition #yourfaceinspace, we are looking for the craziest photographs of people doing something 'sciencey' (families) or the most creative science comic strip or picture (schools). The winners' faces will be filmed being launched into space and played on the day of the festival. You will actually see your face reach the edge of space, with copies also given to the winners.

This event is suitable for anyone, with plenty to keep you entertained for the day.
