Property managers manage and maintain all communal aspects of residential property, they account for shared charges and resolve disputes at all levels. Managing a property involves complying with legal obligations, for example, landlord and tenant, planning, health and safety and fire regulations. Another interesting part of this course is learning the different tools and techniques of investment appraisal and property valuations. This aims to develop your ability to identify the investment aims of different categories of investors and to analyse the investment instruments which meet those needs. Through the introduction of non-discounting and discounting methods of investment appraisal you will develop an understanding of the elementary theory of property investment and development appraisal and to making use of computer spreadsheets as a means of presenting, analysing and solving investment problems.
