My time studying at the University of Wolverhampton was an open door to further my career.

My favourite memory of the course was being introduced to tutors from Kaplan Financial who taught the ACCA qualification. These tutors were very knowledgeable on the subject they taught and were easy to approach. I also enjoyed working on my research proposal. My study on the use of financial instruments by companies within emerging market economies was awesome. It was also good to study at the new Business School building.
The University offered the opportunity to study a joint course inclusive of both a post graduate degree and a professional qualification. My research proposal provided new learning and allowed me to progress my ACCA qualification. My course opened the door to a more senior finance role within the local authority.
In my current role as company director, I ensure that my financial records are maintained and continuously updated using my chosen finance software. I manage the company returns, social media and I am currently forming and developing some new ideas. I also ensure that my intellectual property licences are renewed before expiry.
Completing my Masters degree in accounting & finance and my compulsory examinations with the ACCA. Obtaining business funding with Virgin start up loans. Bringing an idea to market, and my research proposal.
The best advice I can give to someone who is considering studying at the University is to consider your strengths and what you enjoy or would enjoy doing before deciding on a course, because the length of a undergraduate degree can stretch and it makes sense to study a course which will draw from those strengths to sustain you through it. I would advise them to look through the prospectus and research the modules of their chosen courses to get an idea of how their course is structured and what to expect and what the cost of tuition or the duration of their degree will be. I would also advise them to attend an open day.
