Saphiya is a Senior Lecturer on the BA (Hons) programmes for the School of Education.

Her lecturing responsibilities include teaching on various modules that involve sociological, political and international perspectives relating to equality, culture and education. Saphiya is also a research supervisor for the MA in Education.

Saphiya's professional background include teaching experience in the Post-Compulsory Education Sector. Her previous academic position was at a university based in the East Midlands, where she was appointed as a Senior Lecturer in the College of Education. Prior to this, Saphiya has worked in Further Education, and as a Foundation Stage teacher based in the South of England.

Saphiya holds the status of Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA) and has completed her doctorate: religious beliefs in higher education. 

Other duties involve working collaboratively with the Research Cluster for Readers and Writers at the University of Wolverhampton.
