Conference accommodation at a University of Wolverhampton campus has been given a top rating by the national tourist board, confirming the high standard of facilities.
Visit England recently inspected the Telford Innovation Campus and the University retained its 5-star campus rating for double bedrooms and a good 3-star rating for single bedrooms.
The ‘quality in tourism assessment rating’ follows the inspection of the 254 bedrooms and public areas at the campus.
The inspection looked at aspects such as the quality of the rooms, cleanliness, the quality of furniture and information provision in the rooms.
In addition it also looked at public areas such as the reception, dining facilities and lounge space and access to the car park. The quality of the enquiry service, such as web content and literature available before and during a visit, was also assessed.
Louise Callaghan, Conference Sales and Marketing Manager, said: “We’re delighted to have retained our 5-star and 3-star ratings for our conference accommodation at the Telford Innovation Campus. The B&B business has definitely increased since last year with repeat bookings from local contractors working in the area, visitors to the Telford International Centre plus residential training courses and conferences taking place on campus.”
The campus is also home to Priorslee Lounge and Bar providing social space for evening use for conferences or daytime meetings and networking events.
The Telford Innovation Campus is also home to the University’s engineering courses and facilities which have recently benefitted from a £10m investment as part of the Our Vision, Your Opportunity project. There are also business services such as incubation units for start-up companies and specialist projects aimed at supporting small and medium sized enterprises to grow.
