This course a 16 week course designed to enable applicants who hold a suitable degree other than Computing or IT to gain the subject knowledge they require to train as a secondary Computer Science teacher.

Am I eligible for this SKE course?

To be eligible trainees must:

  • Not be going onto an undergraduate course.
  • Not already hold qualified teacher status.

Further information

Face-to-face classes are held for four days a week (usually Monday to Thursday) between 10.00am and 4.00pm. Friday is usually a day to undertake work on an independent basis. All taught sessions will take place at the University’s Walsall Campus. See back of this booklet for details.

Funding

An NCTL bursary equivalent to £200 per week may be payable to participants if eligible. Bursary payments are made monthly with the first month in arrears. If the SKE programme runs in parallel with the full time ITT programme only the higher of the two training bursaries will be paid from the date the ITT programme commences, not both.
