Honorary award gets founding director of record label to the top of the charts
The University of Wolverhampton has recognised the achievements of one of the founding directors of one of the oldest independent record labels in the UK.
Honorary awards are presented by the University of Wolverhampton to people who have made a significant contribution to their field of expertise.
Olivia Birch, the founding director of Revolver Records, has been awarded a Fellowship.
Revolver Records, established in 1979, has released around 7,000 albums including ones from bands like The Misfits, Jane’s Addiction, Sister Sledge and The Stone Roses.
Olivia is also recognised nationally for her inspirational work in Britain’s co-operative movement, and is former vice-president of Britain’s second largest society, Midcounties.
Olivia said: “I am deeply humbled and grateful to be recognised by this esteemed institution, which has made such significant contributions to education, research, and the broader community.”
The University’s graduation ceremonies are taking place at University of Wolverhampton The Halls from Friday 6 September to Friday 13 September 2024.
