Early Years degree builds solid foundations with sector endorsement

12/10/2021

A University of Wolverhampton degree course has been awarded a key sector endorsement - building solid foundations for students studying for Early Years qualifications.

The University’s Institute of Education has been awarded a Sector Endorsement for its Foundation Degree in Early Years Services by SEFDEY (Sector-Endorsed Foundation Degrees in Early Years Professional Association).

SEFDEY is a professional association intended to provide a ‘voice’ for early years and to endorse the quality of Foundation Degrees offered within the sector.

Dr Faye Stanley, Head of Early Childhood, Young People and Developing Professional Practice at the University, said: “The feedback from the SEFDEY committee was hugely positive. We were praised for a very strong application with the inclusion of a wide range of modules relating to many very important aspects of Early Years care and education from birth, such as Understanding Children’s Worlds, the Enquiring Practitioner, Safeguarding and the Young Lives, Parenting and Families with its consideration of social inequalities.

“The endorsement means that the learning programme continues to ensure the quality of teaching and learning is standardised, there are robust quality monitoring systems in place to meet the needs of employers and the curriculum content is appropriate to equip students with a range of skills and knowledge.”
