Online degree programmes are the business after securing accreditation

03/08/2021

Two University of Wolverhampton degree programmes have secured accreditation by the Association for Business Psychology (ABP).

The ABP is a professional organisation that promotes community and excellence in Business Psychology and advocates for evidence-based applications of Psychology in Business settings. They are internationally recognised with a growing international reputation for excellence, and provide a range of services from CPD activities, conferences, professional certification and course accreditation.

The Master’s of Business Administration in Psychology and the Master’s of Science Organisation and Business Psychology degree programmes use evidence based online learning methodologies to deliver content that will equip students with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in the dynamic field of Business Psychology.

The 100% online programmes have been developed by the University of Wolverhampton Business School and School of Psychology to meet the needs of busy professionals looking to further their knowledge and practitioner skills in Business Psychology by studying online.

Professional Certification with the ABP is a recognised marker of quality and is a growth field within the UK.  Graduates of the Master’s degree courses will be able to apply for Certified Business Psychologist status, offering professional body recognition of knowledge, skills and expertise in the area and commitment to the values of the discipline.  It also provides a viable professional route for graduates looking to practise Business Psychology as an alternative to Occupational Psychology.

Dr Shaukat Ali, Senior Lecturer in Business in the University of Wolverhampton Business School, said: “The University of Wolverhampton is proud of its reputation as a pioneer in blended and online learning for many decades and our graduates from the programme have gone onto successful senior careers in varied sectors, including local government, education, healthcare and the private sector.

“The University continues to build on that reputation with its recent launch of a new suite of innovative online Master’s degrees for those who want to invest in their future.  Designed specifically for busy working professionals and people with family commitments, these courses give students the opportunity to enhance their career prospects and achieve their full potential with less disruption to everyday lives.

“The courses have a specific focus on developing progressive, compassionate and ethical professionals and leaders and certification by the ABP is recognised by many employers for example the NHS, Civil Service and many private sector organisations.”

Dr Dawn Nicholson, Head of University Accreditation at the Association for Business Psychology, said: "Both programmes have a modern and forward-thinking approach to business psychology. The topics are cutting edge, developed with the ABP standards as their underlying ethos. They reflect key workplace challenges to help prepare students for their role in business overcoming those challenges and also their careers in a changing global market. Both programmes also benefit from the use of the most up to date technology. It is excellent to see the teaching of business psychology developing in this way.”

The Master’s degrees will appeal to those working in a range of fields who want to enhance their skills and build their knowledge to give them a wide evidence base in Business Psychology. The programme has been developed to cover core ABP knowledge and values while allowing students to learn cutting edge theories and engage in topical debates.

The MBA (Psychology) provides core business knowledge that you would expect from an MBA programme, but additionally you will be introduced to psychological principles, theories and approaches that will help you to understand the people in your organisation, equipping you as a highly skilled leader.
