University to host top BBC show

The University of Wolverhampton is to play host to flagship BBC1 topical debate programme Question Time.

The show will be broadcast from the Chancellor’s Hall in the University’s Wulfruna Building in Wolverhampton City Centre on Thursday 28 September 2017.

Hosted by David Dimbleby, it will feature five panellists from the world of politics and media alongside a studio audience of more than 200 people.

Professor Geoff Layer, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Wolverhampton, said: “We are delighted to be hosting Question Time at the University of Wolverhampton in the Chancellor’s Hall.

“It is a show synonymous with democratic debate and exploring different ideas and points of view and that is exactly what the University encourages and stands for.

“It is also important for Wolverhampton to be seen on a national stage, particularly with the way the city and region is regenerating itself.”

The Chancellor’s Hall is situated in the University’s oldest building, The Wulfruna Building, which opened in 1934. Originally The Assembly Hall, it hosted graduation ceremonies and official University events. It was refurbished and renamed in 2016 and now hosts a range of University events including the recent West Midlands Mayoral Debate.

The show, produced by Mentorn Scotland, will be broadcast on Thursday September 28 at 10:45pm on BBC1.
