Discover stop animation at University event for all the family

Shaun the sheep and ArtsfestAnimators from Shaun the Sheep and the original Beatles Yellow Submarine film will talk about their work as part of an event for the University of Wolverhampton’s Artsfest next week.

Out of Darkness - The World of Stop Animation will feature a host of talks, films and family activities and everyone is welcome.

Guest speakers will include Tam Joseph, from the Beatles Yellow Submarine, University graduate Richard Phelan, of Shaun the Sheep fame at Aardman Animation and Emma Calder from independent children’s animation firm Pearly Oyster Productions.

There will also be a workshop for children to make their own Shaun the Sheep.

Artsfest Event Co-ordinator Paul Williams said: “From the earliest days of the cinema with Georges Melies to the present plasticine characters from Aardman productions, the public have been enchanted by stop motion animation.

“For anyone interested in animation, of any kind, it will be a fabulous day and if the weather is kind to us it will be even better, so bring a picnic.

“During the day’s events we will be showing the film Shaun the Sheep as part of our support for the fund raising efforts of Aadman Productions Grand Appeal which helps with particular support for children’s care and hospitals.”

The event will be held in Main Lecture Theatre (MC001) at the University of Wolverhampton on Saturday June 6. Doors open at 9.30am for registration, and the event runs till approximately 4pm and is free to all. Entrance is by ticket only.
