Rewards for an award designer
A University of Wolverhampton student has reaped the rewards of his success with new careers opportunities after designing the awards for a West Midlands ceremony.
Illustration student Jordan Kendall has designed the nine trophies for the West Midlands Institute of Directors’ award ceremony.
The awards took place on Wednesday, 3 June at Edgbaston cricket ground.
Jordan was selected to design the award for the ‘IoD’ by the University’s Faculty of Arts course leader, John Clementson.
der of Visual Communication, Illustration and Graphic Design, John Clementson said, “Jordan has responded well to a broad range of challenges this year and was a prime candidate for the commission.
“The staff team are delighted for him; the experience gained will be of immense value in his final year.
“Jordan's approach was fresh, thoughtful and very professional throughout.”
As a result of his work and its praise, Jordan has been rewarded with a number of job offers and has now been given paid employment with Action Starter, based in Birmingham.
Cumbria born Jordan is currently based in Walsall and has now begun full-time employment.
John Phillips, Regional Director for the Institute of Directors said. “This was an important project for us. Our director awards are very important as many of our members have achieved great things sometimes under difficult circumstances and they deserve to have their achievements rewarded.
“We were delighted to commission Jordan to make our trophies and he was a pleasure to work with and quickly became involved in the detail and spirit of the project.
“It was great to have individual art pieces as trophies and much more personal than buying an ‘off the shelf’ product.
“I am sure the young designer will have a great future as a commercial artist and we will do our best to give him a lift along the way.
“The IoD very much values its relationship with the University of Wolverhampton, the Business School and the School of Art.”
