The University of Wolverhampton has opened its latest regional outpost – in London.

Currently the University has regional offices in locations including India, Oman, Malaysia, China, Nigeria and Vietnam and has now added London to that list.

Joana Correia has been appointed as the first London regional recruitment officer and will be based in the English c‌apital.Joana Correia

Her role will involve working directly with schools and colleges, attending careers events, UCAS fairs and parent’s evenings and running specific events promoting the University of Wolverhampton.

Joana, who previously worked within the University’s International Centre and can speak Spanish, Portuguese and English, said: “It’s a big challenge but one I’m really looking forward to. It is a completely new position with a new market to focus on for the University.

“I’m really proud to be representing the University in London and am excited to try to play a part in helping students plan their future.

“Choosing a University course is a big decision which can influence students’ lives so I want to support them as much as I can.

“A big part of my role will be promoting the opportunities the University can provide; its courses and facilities, its excellent employability and research, as well as the local area. It’s about putting the University of Wolverhampton on the map in London and making it a real proposition for students and parents in London.”

Dr Derek Walton, Head of Student Recruitment at the University, said: “At the moment the University recruits more than 200 students a year from London and the aim of creating this new role is to increase this number.

“Joana will be based in London and will be out and about at a range of events and very much be our representative in the city, promoting all the University has to offer.

“Our campuses are easily accessible- about 100 minutes from London by train. The City and the local area offers affordable living costs and we have similarly diverse communities.

“We can offer fantastic opportunities for London students with our excellent teaching, commended by the Quality Assurance Agency, to state-of-the art facilities such as the recently opened science and business buildings in Wolverhampton and our high employability rate, with 95 cent of students being in a job or further study six months after they graduate.

“We hope that prospective students will take the opportunity to contact Joana via our dedicated email: “
