Showcasing Student Fundraising Efforts


Students from the University of Wolverhampton will reap the rewards of their success in an exhibition to showcase and celebrate their charity achievements.

The Student Fundraising Exhibition will be displaying the team efforts of the University’s Business School Students studying for the Creativity and Innovation module.

The event will be taking place on Tuesday, 5 May from 10am- 12pm in the Ringside Suite at The Wolverhampton Race Course.

Creativity and innovation module leader Barry Whitehouse said: “The School looks forward to this exhibition every year as it is a chance to see the fantastic hard work and efforts that the students put into organising their fundraisers.

“They run some fantastic events like family fun days, sporting events and themed charity galas: I even had a back wax as part of one team’s events!

“The students really benefit from this module because it gives them the hands on experience that is key for their understanding and knowledge. They have had to organise everything themselves.

“The record for the highest amount that has ever been raised by one team was £2800, so I am really looking forward to seeing this year’s results”.

Working in teams, the students have organized and run their own series of fundraising events for chosen charities managing everything from PR to networking events themselves.

The next part of their assignment comes with the challenging task of creating their own exhibition stands and presentations on their project presenting enterprise skills, challenges and tactics used throughout the assignment.

Students from City of Wolverhampton College have also been working with the University students to host creative and fun events and raise as many funds as possible.

The module assignment has given the students the opportunity to work with four main charities that support the Business School which include Acorns Children’s Hospice, Compton Hospice, The Steve Bull Foundation and St. Anthony’s of the Leonard Cheshire Foundation.

The David Arrowsmith Prize, which is sponsored by Fabweld Steel Products Ltd, will be awarded to the team who has raised the most money.

Exhibition attendees will include academic staff from the University’s Business School and the representatives of the local businesses.

 Being part of the assignment for the module, students will be judged on their creativity and innovation by the attending staff teams.
