11/09/2014

Mission Transmission is an interactive event to explore how disease is transmitted between humans in the community.

The event will take place at the University’s Arena Theatre on Wulfruna Street, on September 17 at 2pm until 3pm.

Around 130 year 10 students will be attending the event which aims to give the students an exciting introduction into the world of microbiology.

The free event investigates how disease can be transmitted between humans in the community by touch, sneezing and faecal contamination.

The event has been organised by Dr Martin Khechara and the Science Shack team from the University of Wolverhampton in conjunction with the Society for General Microbiology and the Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust.

Dr Martin Khechara, Lecturer in Biomedical Science (Microbiology) said: “We are really looking forward to the event and hope to engage with the students to develop a passion for science.

“We feel the pupils are at the right stage to introduce the fascinating discoveries you will find through scientific research.

“I hope we inspire prospective microbiology students to come back to the University of Wolverhampton to pursue a career in science.”
