University welcome students from Turin

Ten students from the University of Turin attended lectures in the Faculties of Arts, Social Sciences and Education, Health and Wellbeing as part of an exchange programme between the two institutions.

The students stayed with families in Wolverhampton and took part in lectures in subjects such as law, business, history, media, social work and politics.

They even attended a Basic Italian class, part of the Wolverhampton Languages for You Programme, to help the students with their conversation.

Dr Eleanor Andrews, Senior Lecturer in Italian and Course Leader for Film Studies‌ at the University, said: “I have been the co-ordinator for this special programme for the last seven years. This is the fifteenth year of the exchange and roughly 170 students have visited Wolverhampton during that time.

“As always, it was a pleasure to have the students from Turin working with us in Wolverhampton. They settled in very well to student life and really enjoyed their time here and the excellent facilities we have to offer.

“They all acted as great ambassadors for both their university and their country.”

The exchange was originally set up in 1999 thanks to the assistance of Professor Giuseppina Cortese in Turin. The current co-ordinator in Italy is Professor Maria Cristina Caimotto.
