University academy to receive national award
Smestow School has been presented with a SSAT Educational Outcomes Award for outstanding progress.
The school has been recognised as one of the best schools in the UK for students’ achivements at GCSE.
The school qualified for the SSAT Educational Outcomes Award by being in the top 20 per cent of national schools for student progress.
Pupils development has been recongised from key stage 2 results at primary school to GCSE results at age 16.
Sue Williamson, Chief Executive of SSAT said: “These results are a testament to the commitment and hardwork of the students, teachers and leadership team at Smestow School and show what can be achieved when skilled teachers have high expectations and ambition for every young person.
“I am so proud that this school is a member of the SSAT network.”
Sir Geoff Hampton, Chief Executive Education Central Multi Academy Trust, said: “I am delighted that one of our Education Central Academies has been given this accolade by the SSAT.
“It is a tribute to everyone at Smestow for all of their hard work and for the enthusiasm and commitment they display on a daily basis.”
The school will receive their award at a regional celbration ceremony hosted by SSAT at Waverley School, based in Birmingham on Wednesday 4 June 2014.
