University’s Opportunity Fayre

Year 12 and 13 students from local sixth forms and colleges will have the opportunity to discover a range of inspiring workshops and presentations hosted at the University of Wolverhampton.

Students will have the opportunity to speak to professional bodies in a variety of Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) subjects.

Former children’s television presenter, Johnny Ball, will host a demonstration master-class to sixth form students with an insight into how empowering Maths can be and where it is used in STEM careers; from Architecture to Aerospace.

Derek Walton, Associate Dean of the Faculty of Science and Engineering at the University, said: “It does not matter how talented someone is at a particular skill, unless they are given the opportunity to enhance their capabilities.   

“The University of Wolverhampton is the University of Opportunity, we provide a range of events and workshops to offer students opportunities to get the information they need to get to where they want to be.

 “The University’s Opportunity Fayre, will give students advice and guidance on possible future careers in STEM subjects, while learning how to maximise their choices and chances of success."

Students will also have the opportunity to speak to local employers to learn what is available through STEM including information on courses, apprenticeships and careers, through its innovative 'Speed STEMing' approach.
