Students' Brief Encounter with fashion
‘A Brief Encounter with Fashion’ reflected the nostalgia of travel and the chance encounters of passengers.
The show celebrated the achievements of students studying a Bachelor of Arts degree in Fashion and Textiles at the University of Wolverhampton.
Final year students showcased their work produced for the Clothes Show Live Exhibition as well as their final collections in front of a packed audience at Grand Central Station, based in Wolverhampton.
Designs included a range of vintage items, as well as wedding dresses and urban-style outfits.
Students, staff and all areas of production had put their hearts and souls into the end of year degree show.
Staff from the University’s Arena Theatre designed and built the catwalk ready for the models to show off students creations.
Fashion and Textiles student, Jade Field, designed a line of evening wear for her final showcase.
She said: “I am nervous, but I’m so excited! It just makes everything seem real and worthwhile seeing my creations on the catwalk and thinking – yeah I did that.”
Jade is currently undertaking an internship in relation to her studies at online retailer, Avanni.
The 21- year- old hopes her degree will take her into Events Management hosting her own fashion shows in the future.
Sharon Watts, Course Leader for Fashion and Textiles said: “It has been such a wonderful experience, our students’ imagination and creativity has definitely made a huge impact through the end of year clothing designs.
“I’d like to say a big thank you to all of our sponsors, staff, volunteers and most of all - thank you to our fashion and textiles students who have done such a fabulous job and have definitely wowed us with their creations.
“I can say without a shadow of a doubt, we have got some exceptional, true talent here at the University of Wolverhampton.”
Wolverhampton College students put their professional skills to good practise undertaking the important task of hair and make-up, in preparation for the glamorous models to hit the catwalk.
Students from Wolverhampton College and Halesowen College also took part in showcasing their work.
