Cash bursaries of up to £850 available for West Midlands businesses

The first phase of the Graduate Bursary Scheme offered 63 bursaries to local businesses. Now the University has been awarded 80 additional cash bursaries of up to £850 to give to employers looking to inject fresh graduate talent into their business.

The bursaries, which are part-funded by European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), are available to organisations employing less than 250 people which are based in the West Midlands region and are looking to recruit local graduates.

The Workplace at the University can source skilled graduates in a range of degree disciplines including marketing, website management, research and development, operations/ project management, finance and business support.

Helene Turley, Head of The Workplace, said: “We are delighted to have successfully accomplished the first phase of the bursary scheme and to have been awarded additional bursaries to offer to organisations. Through this we can continue our initiatives aimed at supporting local businesses, graduate employment and the local economy.

“By offering a graduate an internship a business can gain a helping hand for a project that they simply do not have the time or resource to complete as well as a cost-effective and flexible solution to their recruitment needs.”

The Workplace at the University of Wolverhampton offers a free recruitment service to organisations that wish to recruit a recent graduate in addition to the cash bursary to help with the cost of employment.

A maximum of three bursaries are available to every eligible organisation. The scheme is only open to private sector SME businesses, registered charities or social enterprises.
