Wolves and University of Wolverhampton in Major Sponsorship Deal

31/07/2014

Gareth Prosser, Wolves Academy ManagerThe six figure deal, which lasts for the next three seasons, will see the University’s logo positioned on the front of all the Academy age groups playing shirts, up to and including the u18s side.

The University will also have a variety of advertising inventory at both the Wolves Academy and their branding will also become a regular sight at Molineux from the beginning of the 2014/2015 season.

Also, in a boost for the graduate jobs market in the City, around fifteen internships will be provided across the Club, specifically for University of Wolverhampton graduates.

The roles will cover areas such as Sports Science, Medical, Media and Commercial specialisms and will provide a unique, and long-term, football club to university link.

Jez Moxey, Chief Executive, Wolves, said, “Wolves and the University of Wolverhampton have been strategic partners in the city for years.

“This agreement is a natural extension to that long standing relationship and the timing is also perfect with the construction of the Wolves Academy and indoor facility set for completion in September 2014.

“Wolves Academy has the coveted Category One status – as one of the country’s top academies – and the University of Wolverhampton is a huge asset to the City as one of the country’s most successful universities.

“This is great news for the City as a whole, and we look forward to working more closely with the University of Wolverhampton.”

Professor Ian Oakes, University of Wolverhampton Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Research and External Engagement, said: “We are delighted to be associated with Wolves and in particular to be supporting the development and education of its young players at the brand new training academy.

“The University of Wolverhampton and Wolves are two of the most recognisable and prominent organisations in the region; both bringing huge inward economic investment into Wolverhampton and the Black Country.

“As the University of Opportunity we are extremely pleased that this agreement will lead to work experience, placement and internship opportunities for our students and graduates. It will give them vital insight into how a multi-million pound business works and enhance their skills and experience.

“Like the University, Wolves works to support local communities both at home and internationally so it is an ideal partnership for us.

“We already work closely with the club on a number of initiatives and we see this as a natural step which reinforces our relationship further.”
