Thousands visit University for open day opportunities

The establishment opened its doors to visitors on Saturday, August 17 and showed guests and students-to-be around both its city and Walsall campuses.

During the day, prospective students and their guests explored the two campuses, enjoyed talks and presentations in subject areas they were interested in, took part in regular walking tours of the premises and also had the opportunity to enrol on a course then and there.

Jane Nelson, Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Access and Lifelong Learning, said: “We are really pleased with the attendance on open day.

“It is the first time many people get to really look around the University so we wanted to make sure people had the best opportunity they could to come along and see the whole range of services and features we have to offer.

“Clearing can be a busy and challenging time for students but also a really exciting one with the opportunities on offer. At the University of Wolverhampton we want to make it as easy as possible for people to take those opportunities and were pleased to see so many of them do just that on the day.

“We were particularly pleased with the amount of people that took advantage of tours and talks on both our Science and Engineering courses at City and sports courses at Walsall, given the recent announcements of significant investment in these areas. These proved very popular.”

After the Clearing period began on Thursday, August 15, nearly 10,000 people visited the University’s dedicated Clearing page on the University’s website, registering more than 20,000 page views in just four days

Students still have the opportunity to enrol on University course, through the Clearing process.

For information on how to do this, visit or call the Clearing hotline on 0800 953 3222.

The University’s next open day will take place on October 5.
