Student satisfaction grows at University of Wolverhampton
The ninth National Student Survey (NSS) asks students from all over the country for their opinions on their university and the services it provides.
Overall satisfaction at the University of Wolverhampton has risen by three per cent, compared to last year, to a score of 83 per cent.
Scores for Wolverhampton in all of the seven categories saw an increase compared to last year’s results.
The quality of learning resources, which includes IT and library facilities, went up from 85 to 88 per cent and teaching on courses also rose to 83 per cent, up two points.
The University also saw improvements in other areas including assessment and feedback, academic support, management, personal development and satisfaction with the Students’ Union.
Ann Holmes, Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academic, said: “It’s extremely positive news and a fantastic barometer of how students rate what we provide for them.
“We’ve worked closely with the Students’ Union and students themselves to improve the whole experience at the University of Wolverhampton by including them as partners, listening and giving them a say in decisions.
“That will remain a central focus going into the new academic year. The University is investing in new facilities such as the new Science lab facility and new Business School as well as investing in research.”
Simeon Chandra, President of the University of Wolverhampton Students’ Union, said: “The satisfaction with the Students’ Union has gone up and while the percentage could be even higher, it is another improvement. We are happy it has risen but we want to make sure it goes even higher next year.”
The survey highlights a number of high scoring subject areas with high overall satisfaction rates in including animation, business information systems, computer games design, sports management, midwifery, construction management, social care and social policy, sports studies and commercial management.
The NSS is an annual census of students in the final year of a course leading to undergraduate credits or qualifications across the UK.
