Professor Seifert has joined the from Keele University, where he was the Professor of Industrial Relations and Human Resource Management for 15 years.

He has acted as an adviser and consultant to large private and public sector companies, trade unions, and government departments. He was President of the British Universities Industrial Relations Association (BUIRA) 2000-2004; acted as an academic adviser to ACAS and the Commonwealth Universities Association and remains a visiting professor in Zimbabwe, Malawi and China.
He was elected onto the council of the World Association of Political Economy (WAPE) last year.
His teaching, research and publications focus on the employment relationship, state regulation and control of the labour markets, pay determination, the role of trade unions, employers' strategies, and the public sector.
