Senior Research Fellow, Dr Vinette Cross, is to be presented with a fellowship from the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy. The award recognises her significant contribution to the development and promotion of high standards in physiotherapy practice and education.

She said: “I am thrilled and proud to receive this acknowledgment of peer esteem from my colleagues in the Chartered Society. High quality education programmes and practice-based learning experiences will help secure the future of quality health services and research, and I hope to continue to make a useful contribution.”
Dr Cross spent many years as a senior lecturer and researcher in pre and post registration education across health care professions, and helped to bring about major change in the practice of professional education in physiotherapy. This has included development of a national continuing professional development (CPD) framework for physiotherapists, and a national accreditation scheme for practice-based physiotherapy educators. This has since been adopted by other allied health professions.
The nomination for the fellowship praised Dr Cross’s contribution to physiotherapy and education, stating: “As a scholarly writer, a creative thinker and a mover and shaker at an intellectual level, Vinette is not an ordinary teacher/researcher. Her impact is directly through her one to one contact and her scholarly output.”
