EVENT: Black History Month - Saluting our sisters

The theme of Black History Month this year is Saluting Our Sisters. The University has organised opportunities for staff and students to engage in the celebrations and show their support.
Throughout October 2023, Black History Month celebrates the achievements of our black sisters. Over the years, many of our black sisters have been represented in the media, through businesses and through recognition of their hard work.
At our in person event, you will be introduced to many female speakers who have their own charities, have progressed to senior roles at the University and those who want to share the impact black females have contributed to their own lives.
The event will consist of panel discussions around the theme and include speakers from leadership and research roles. Refreshments and lunch will be provided.

In addition to our in person event, University student, Malissa Lewis-Francis, on behalf of her brand, OnRoot, is organising a 24 hour podcast dedicated to Black History Month. The event will be hosted for free through YouTube and Facebook Live and is named 'Talkathon24'
University staff and students are invited to join the OnRoot Fundraiser. More information will be revealed on the OnRoot website prior to the event.
